PacMed partnership provides meals, supplies for kids

Hear Lynnwood Clinic caregivers’ experience supporting the Summer Meals program

The Foundation for Edmonds School District (FESD) works to support 8,000+ children in their area who have needs, such as regular meals over the summer. PacMed Lynnwood continues to partner with FESD – and this year, we supported the Summer Meals Program and their Back to School Resource Fair (drive-up).

The Summer Meals program serves FREE breakfast and lunch all summer long! Hundreds of children ages 1-18 came for a free, nutritious breakfast and lunch at one of four Lynnwood locations. Three locations also provided organized healthy activities, and PacMed staff joined, captured in the video below.

“We want our kids to be nourished and well fed, so when they come to school in the fall, they are ready to learn,” said Deborah Brandi, executive director for the Foundation for Edmonds School District.

PacMed’s Dr. Sang Won added, “it’s a great opportunity to have a balanced meal and activities for their growth.”

The Back to School Resource Fair, sponsored by PacMed, provided backpacks and other school materials to support families for the 2021-2022 school year. PacMed also donated hand sanitizers, coloring books, and other items to families. As part of the Summer Meals Program, PacMed staff volunteered to assist outdoor activities for families, provided health screenings and helped to distribute meals.

While students took part in a game of whiffle ball in the background, Lynnwood Clinic Supervisor Maria Cardines shared,  “This way, the kids don’t have to worry where they’ll get their next meals from. They just worry about being kids.”

PacMed’s Larissa Stoudamire, a volunteer with the ESD Food Program, shared the immediate impact support like this can make:

“We had one little boy that, when we handed him his meal, he gave us a hug.”
